I built NanoAvatar to run lifelike talking avatars on older Android phones. It responds fast and generates smooth video locally, without a cloud GPU.
The code, model weights, Android APKs and recorded demos are public. The APK includes the model and an avatar, so you can try it with your own voice offline, without an API key.
Demos, Android APKs and source code
For developers, the Android runtime uses Qualcomm QNN. Full and Lite share one codebase and bundle different model and avatar resources. On a Z60 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Lite reached 37 FPS with a 112 ms model first frame. The released APKs generate at a fixed 25 FPS for Full and 12.5 FPS for Lite.
Iād welcome feedback from people working with QNN or integrating talking avatars into their apps.
