New Dataset Preview: Whisper and Aspiration (Human Vocality Primitives)
Hi everyone — I’ve just released a new audio dataset preview from Harmonic Frontier Audio focused on whisper phonation and aspiration-based vocal gestures.
Whisper and Aspiration (Preview) is part of the Human Vocality Primitives series and is designed to capture airflow-driven, unvoiced vocal behaviors that sit at the boundary between breath noise and speech.
Dataset:
Whisper and Aspiration Preview

Full README, rights declaration, and changelog included
Why this dataset
Whisper phonation and aspiration are foundational components of:
-
speech production
-
expressive voice synthesis
-
breath-aware AI voice systems
-
phonetics and vocal physiology research
This dataset is intentionally non-semantic and non-linguistic, focusing on acoustic primitives rather than spoken content, making it suitable for research, modeling, and evaluation without linguistic bias.
Licensing
-
Released under CC BY-NC 4.0 for non-commercial use
-
Commercial licensing available via Harmonic Frontier Audio
-
All recordings are original, rights-cleared, and performer-owned
Notes
This is a preview pack, intended to demonstrate dataset quality, structure, and metadata conventions.
The full Whisper and Aspiration dataset includes a substantially larger set of airflow and whisper primitives and is available for licensing.
Feedback and questions are welcome.
If you find the dataset useful, a
on Hugging Face helps others discover it.
Thanks for taking a look.
