HF Hub CDN URLs changes notifications

Hello,

I recently noticed a change in the URL for Hugging Face’s model download CDN: it used to be cdn-lfs.huggingface.co, and now it’s cdn-lfs.hf.co.

Is it possible to receive notifications when such changes are planned or immediately after implementation? Alternatively, does this CDN URL always maintain a consistent IP range?

My firewall restricts internet access, so I have to allow each destination individually, and unannounced changes cause disruptions. Any guidance on how to handle this more smoothly would be greatly appreciated.

HF has no notifiable features other than direct HTML writing and notifications.
You may think that’s ridiculous on such a big, high-tech site, but it’s the reality…

So, for now, I think the most common way to find announcements about HF is on Discord or in Posts.
Active users and HF staff are usually on Discord.

Hi John,

I’ve seen this to be reported by other people as well.

The issue is that due to security constraints, there is a whitelist of specific CDN URLs. Any changes on the CDS list makes the checkout to fail.

It would make sense to keep a page somewhere under huggingface.co updated with the available CDNs not necessarily to notify the people around. That’s something easy to provide so that we can keep it as a reference.

Regards,
Petros

Make your request here. The original post is over a month old and actually some of this has already been accomplished. I’ll upvote your post if you do.

Oh well, as it stands now, unless that is a service that is close to HF, they can’t even know the correct settings without being hacky or trying…
Some HF errors may have something to do with that lack of information. Nowadays, we can’t have internet service without CDNs.

Thank you John and Petros. I added comment in the provided thread: @victor on Hugging Face: "🙋 Calling all Hugging Face users! We want to hear from YOU! What feature or…".

I agree that having separated page to use as a reference would be more than useful.

Having a standardized way to list all this important configuration information and communicate about changes is definitely in our todo, sorry for any disruption this unannounced change caused in your systems!
