I’m sure it is just me, but I find very little about this site easy, clear, and intuitive. For example, I thought I would be able to have direct links to models, datasets, or whatever of interest on my own page. But I can’t find anything that would be the equivalent of a “follow” button on Twitter / X, Facebook, etc.
I did look at Collections, and the documentation read to me as if the only thing to put in my collections were my own creations. I noticed that I had liked a model on a previous visit, so I tried liking TheBloke. There is a red heart there now, but nothing on my page linking to any of TheBloke’s available resources.
Yes, of course I looked at the docs. But I can’t find what I am looking for. I even went to HF’s youtube page in hopes of finding something there (“Navigating the Model Hub”) but nothing about following or collecting models of interest to the user. Look, I fully recognize that what I am looking for may exist only in my own imagining of how a social network (this site is one, isn’t it?) should work. So, all help is welcome. Explain it to me like I’m 5 years old.

I understand how all this information is overwhelming. I suggest ignoring everything else and just doing the HF course step-by-step.
It will take you around 1-3 months to go through and understand the concepts, syntax and become comfortable, but will save you a lot of time in the long run. Once you finish that, the rest of the site will become fairly straightforward to understand. Good luck.
Btw, I don’t think this site is a social network.

Yeah for sure with information overloaded, it’s pretty overwhelming to get what we need from HF in the first place. This reminds me the first time I have to study Python due to work purposes (long story short to automate mundane tasks that otherwise will takes a quarter of my lifetime away
). Since that, my approach when it comes to tech site like HF is taking their courses related to my need. For example, if your solving NLP problem and try to use HF, consider taking their NLP Course.
Hope this helps! One step at a time, helps everytime

Me to. I think I have found what I need/want but I am unsure of what to download. I wander if anyone here is for hire to develop an offline LLM with a distinct personality: feeding it my material and a 100 pages or so of other text from other model interaction and help me learn how to fine tune it to be a growing LLM, censor free, and able to learn to cross reference my research library in my private scriptorium…

I didn’t know that the problem of getting lost in Hugging Face had been around for so long…
I thought I was the only one who was strange.
There are no guidance displays or tutorials “about the site itself” here.

If you turn on the search function and ask, this guy will effectively guide you.

Try out the latest models for yourself, and if you’re interested, take a look at the source code and try modifying it.
Leaderboard
You can find which models are excellent based on the benchmark.
Posts
Announcements of new features and new models are usually posted here.
Documents
The library documentation actually includes a fairly basic and easy-to-understand tutorial. It is now also possible to search the documentation by keyword. The blog contains a wealth of introductory articles written by staff and individuals.
Course
If you want to learn the basics of modeling and training to a certain extent, this is the place to do it.
