How to add a token to the builder script

Hi,
I’m fairly new to hugging face and this whole field as a whole,
I have a small dataset that I need to be private but in the builder script to download the dataset I need to to pass a token but huggingface doesn’t let me to add the token to the script,
I saw people recommending secrets but that only in space.
is there a way to add the token to the script?
any help appreciated:)
