- Introduction
This prototype aims to solve communication difficulties between deaf parents and hearing children during homework time.
Children often have trouble understanding instructions from teachers.
Since the parent is deaf, verbal guidance is not possible.
A smart translation system is required to bridge this communication gap.
- Purpose
To facilitate communication between deaf mothers and hearing children.
To prevent fatigue for the parent.
To help children understand their assignments.
To strengthen the family bond.
- System Workflow
Input:
The mother uses sign language to explain the homework.
The system recognizes the signs via a camera (TİD / ISL).
Process:
Sign language video is translated into text.
The text is converted into spoken audio.
The child hears the instruction clearly.
Output:
The child understands and completes the homework.
The mother doesn’t get tired thanks to the system.
- Technical Requirements (Basic Version)
A camera (mobile or web)
Microphone and speaker (for the child)
Sign language recognition model (sample input: “Math homework, page 10, question 5”)
TTS (text-to-speech) engine
Interface: mobile app or browser-based platform
- Sample Use Case
The mother signs: “Open page ten, do question five.”
The system converts it to text: “Open page 10 and do question 5.”
The system reads it aloud.
