K3D: an open‑standard & reference toolkit for traversable 3D knowledge universes—fusing CAD geometry, vector DBs, AR/VR maps, and AI co‑learning

I’m proud to invite anyone to conduct collaborative research and expand the deep exploration I did with the assistance of #openai::tag models — a vision made reality: K3D — a new knowledge standard that blends vector databases, 3D geometry, mixed reality, and AI cognition into an interoperable, self-hosted framework for the future of human–machine understanding.

:page_facing_up: The article — “From Fiction to TeleKnowledge” — draws direct connections between visionary sci-fi (:large_blue_diamond: Tron’s Grid, :sunglasses: The Matrix, :vulcan_salute: Star Trek, :sparkles: Star Wars, and :flying_saucer: The Jetsons) and current, real-world technologies in:
:white_check_mark: Retrieval-Augmented Generation #rag::tag
:white_check_mark: Vector-based semantic navigation
:white_check_mark: Brain-computer interfaces (BCI)
:white_check_mark: 3D knowledge representations
:white_check_mark: Explainability & trust in AI
:white_check_mark: AR/VR embedded data experiences
:white_check_mark: Digital identity and secure spatial access

:puzzle_piece: At its core, K3D is an open, extensible standard (.k3d filetype included!) that lets us embed real knowledge in 3D space — not just for visualization, but as a functional, queryable, co-navigable terrain. Think of it as “Minecraft for cognition”, where AI and humans interact with the same structures, at different depths and levels of abstraction.

Imagine a world where:
:globe_showing_europe_africa: Each business, school, or lab hosts its own building in a shared 3D knowledge grid
:package: E-commerce objects contain their metadata, web pages, vector embeddings
:door: Data access is spatially enforced with credentialed gates
:seedling: Knowledge grows like trees, with semantic branches and real document leaves
:brain: AI “walks” these forests to learn, explain, and teach
:light_bulb: This is Interactive TeleKnowledge — and it’s technically achievable now. The whitepaper lays out the foundational logic, the stack, and even a GitHub-ready repo structure to begin development.

:link: Whether you’re into #AR #VR AIAlignment #SemanticSearch #EmbodiedAI or just curious how crazy ideas become standards, this is for you.

Let’s make the internet truly spatial — and truly intelligent.

Thank you for posting “CapitainJack.”

I like that name.

I come from data encoding and I am sure-fire wanting to read what the brilliant minds are sharing and that includes you.

So humbly, I say there is always a learning curve for me as a senor citizen but if we keep trying then we don’t give in. I am not giving in.

So yes you have a wide field. However may I engage you with one argument. I do so like to see conversation in the Research Forum.
Question to you: Why do you think that human and machine are separate? “self-hosted framework for the future of human–machine understanding.”

Hi Ernst03!

I had to use that misspelling to be able to use the name I chose for myself online since I was 13 yo =D
Plenty of people like Captain Jack from The Pirates, I chose it because of Eurodance - no one usually tries the misspelled version - and there we go ^^.

AI nowadays thinks linearly. We often use that, but we do think volumetric, 3D, not in a flat linear fashion.

Changing the world knowledge to a standard and stored elsewhere, the AI model itself can have an internal 3D memory, and thus doesn’t need to hold on giant quantities of data at the core, enabling also self-enhancements and long-term usability.

The self-hosted part is useful when you don’t want to share data with the world, but it is also the starting point. We can’t expect that without a good foundational change on how these models work and store information, we’re achieving AGI or SGI.

Well, I like to think of things in terms of trajectory. That seems reasonable to me to be of divergence or convergence. “AI nowadays thinks linearly” My schtick is binary encoding. I love hanging out with the folks here because I believe if one wants to learn, they should be where people are learning.
But I do think that what makes everything possible is “Information” entangled with “discrete energy.” So there is some philosophy in play with my Spiel.

It is possible that everything is of one source. So.. Old folks and their ideas eh

Everything that exists today is a reinvention of what we “copy enhancing” from the previous generations.

Those that are able to grasp such frontier of getting the old and crafting the new are standing on the shoulders of giants.

So, eh, old is gold as well

In Physics the meaning of a word is debated and adopted with consensus. With Philosophy, meaning is debated logically.
So what are we saying? That is a useful revelation to consider.
So, yes, I know mathematical structure and I ponder meaning.
But no hurry for me. I seek good conversation and this qualifies.
